Bonus and Raise Time = More Money Invested
- 2 Comment
It is the time of year when the company I am with pays out the bonuses as well as provided raises. My favorite part about this time of year is that the way my investments are set up, I end up investing more money than I did the year before. I participate in both my company’s pension plan as well as the savings plan. With the pension plan, between the company contribution and my contribution, I contribute 6% of my earnings to the plan. When my salary goes up, then automatically my savings into the pension plan goes up. Nice deal – and I don’t even need to think about it.
The savings plan works the same way – I put in a certain percentage and then the company matches back to me with a certain percentage – again as my salary rises so does my savings plan contributions. At the end of the day, I am investing about 16% of my income per year and every year that my salary and bonus goes up so does my investment contributions. More money to buy dividend paying stocks.
