October in Review – A Recap of Some of My Posts

october-posts.gif

All of a sudden it is November and we are looking back on October. I am kind of glad because if I had to hear about Halloween one more time I might have lost it (hint – my kids are 6 and 4) It was a pretty busy post month, so I thought I would post a bit of a recap with links for the numerous new people that have been visiting my blog as of late!

If you are new to The Dividend Guy, please be sure to check out my About Me page as it will give you some background on who I am and what I am all about.

In addition, I have been giving away some books as of late. If you have not been successful at winning, please be sure to check out my Recommended Books for a lot of dividend investing resources.

Stock Analysis

I looked at 6 different dividend stocks in October, which included in depth looks at: Canadian National Railway, 3M, McDonald’s, Johnson & Johnson, and SNC-Lavalin. JNJ is pretty much a no brainer, in my opinion.

Recommended Dividend Stock by My Readers

In a recent contest, I asked my readers what their favorite dividend stocks are. This post presents the results of that request.

My Personal Portfolio Update

Each month I am going to provide an update on how my dividend portfolio is doing, including what it consists of. Please check out, October Dividend Portfolio Review to see October’s results.

In addition, I did some looking at my asset allocation and small-cap exposure and posted a couple of times about the process I went through to decide at adding a small-cap component to my portfolio:

1. Portfolio Update #1: My Accounts
2. Does a Dividend Portfolio Need Small-Cap Stocks?
3. Small-Cap Investment Choices for a Dividend Portfolio
4. Buying: Starting a Small-Cap Position in my Dividend Portfolio

In addition, I made some comments on my overall asset allocation.

Investment Research

There are a ton of sites out there for doing investment research – some good and some really bad. I put together a list of My Current Top 25 Websites for Stock Research.

And other posts that may be of interest to the investment-minded individual:

1. Market Timing Works
2. Some Concerns with the S&P/TSX Canadian Dividend Aristocrats

It was a busy month but I had fun blogging about investing and look forward to a busy November.
