		<description>I rebalance when the targets are out of balance by +/- 35%.  Using data from eight asset classes dating from 1989 - 2007, 35% is the optimum rebalancing point, assuming one does it once a year.

In reality, I&#039;ve found that one can keep a portfolio in balance by taking dividends and reinvesting them in the asset classes that are below target.  This has been working for a portfolio that was set up nearly eight years ago.
