Weekly Dividend Investing Roundup – February 22, 2008

Weekly Roundup

Although I was on vacation for the better part of last week and this week, I still managed to keep track of my blog feed list and identified some articles from other bloggers that I would like to highlight for you today. These articles all discuss investing or personal finance related topics that I believe readers of this blog would find interesting. Please be sure to visit these sites and have a look at the postings.

The Articles

I am always interested in investors thoughts on socially responsible investing. The Curious Investor recently posted an article indulging in your vices – interesting take on this ongoing discussion.

Dividends4Life provided an interesting perspective on “testing” out a company before taking a full position in it. His post addresses the question, “What is the best way to begin accumulating a new security?”

Lord knows I have made a number of money mistakes in my lifetime. In the My Two Dollars regular series, Money Mistake Monday, he addresses the issue of relying on one and only one paycheck. I don’t like it which is why I have expanded into multiple sources of income (blogs, dividends, etc.).

3M is a company that I have I have examined in the past and it is on my watch list. Middle Class Millionaire recently wrote a post discussing the company here.

After my recent vacation to Kauai, I realized how great an early retirement to the islands would be. Five Cent Nickel offered a suggestion on a tool that will help to figure out how much money you will need.

For those of us in Canada, it is RRSP season and contrary to much of the marketing propaganda available from mutual fund companies and banks, RRSPs are not for everyone. This article by Canadian Capitalist addresses the question, “When Does a RRSP Contribution Not Make Sense?

Market timing does not work but there are certainly better days to invest when looking historically at the numbers. JLP did just that and the results were very interesting. What if You Invest on the Wrong Day?

There are certain mistakes that can cost an investor dearly. Consumerism Commentary offered up part 1 of a series addressing these mistakes and how to deal with them.

As a dividend investor, I learned early on that chasing yield is not a good strategy. One of the better articles on the topic has been written by Dividend Growth Investor – check it out.

Thanks for reading. See you tomorrow.
