Happy New Year to you all - I hope 2008 brings you great success and brings us all amazing investment returns!! On Monday (January 7) I will be hosting the Festival of Stocks, so please get your articles in if you wish to participate.
Here is this week’s weekly dividend investing roundup, including the Carnivals I was involved with.
Carnivals
The Carnival of Financial Planning was hosted at The Skilled Investor and included my post, Examining My Dividend Portfolio Volatility Using RiskGrades.
The Carnival of Personal Finance was hosted by WereInDebt and included my post on Investing has Social Consequences Whether you Like it or Not. Thanks to King for including me as an Editor’s Choice.
Other Great Articles
Lazy Man and Money has an interesting article comparing personal finance to some common sports analogies. My favorite is Talk is Cheap. Action is Key.
Next time you are going to buy that item you think you “need”, think about Free Money Finance’s tip from Money Magazine. Simple but it worked for me today!
I seem to be including The Digerati Life in my weekly roundups on a pretty consistent basis, but that is simply because there is good stuff written there. The recent article, Why Most Investors Don’t Make Money in the Stock Market is really good.
Every investor should read the book The Richest Man in Babylon. JLP at AllFinancialMatters provided a summary of the key tips from another book that talks about the seven laws in today’s context.
Dividend Based Investing linked to an interesting article on how dividend payouts are up 9.3%. The key point - this is triple the rate of inflation.
The Harvard and Yale endowment funds have an amazing record of really really good returns. PFBlog wrote about it in a recent article. The key to their results is something I talk about a lot on this blog - asset allocation.
There are certain things that investors do to undermine their performance. The Financial Blogger wrote about these in the context of the 7 Deadly Sins.
Finally, there are a ton of financial calculators available on the web to help individuals make decisions - Millionaire Mommy Next Door provided a list of 110 of them.
