Weekly Dividend Investing Roundup – March 14, 2008

Weekly Roundup

The major theme on the blogosphere this past week was definitely taxes. That makes sense as we are moving into tax season. However, there still were a number of great dividend focused articles. As usual, I have tried to provide you with the links to some of those here, as well as links to some of the other posts that I have enjoyed in the past week. There were also a couple of more posts that presented their ideas for the top 3 investing mistakes that investors can make – please see this post here and here for more on this. I will start with the carnivals I participated in.

The Carnivals

Fat Pitch Financials hosted the 79th edition of the Festival of Stocks which included my analysis on Johnson Controls.

Quest for Four Pillars did the massive job of hosting the Carnival of Personal Finance. He included my article on the top 3 investing mistakes.

Top 3 Investing Mistakes

Dividend Money provided his list of the top 3 investing mistakes.

The Moneygardener also provided his input to the top 3 mistakes. With these posts we should have a good idea of what not to do.

The Articles

Sin stocks are something that we have talked about on this blog. Financial Jungle asked, How Heavy Is Your Portfolio On The Sin Scale?

Blunt Money did a post about dividend reinvestment plans (DRIPs). He is going to be looking at some of his current holdings to see if they are DRIP eligible.

Get Out of debt

If you're stuck in debt and trying to get caught up, don't resort to payday loans. They almost always have high interest rates, so if you don't pay them back immediately you will just end up in even more debt. In these tough times, it's better just to learn how to be more frugal with your money.
