Weekly Dividend Investing Roundup – September 21, 2007

There was a lot of news this week in the investing and dividend investing world. Like last week’s roundup, this weeks roundup up will include interesting articles from the news, and posts from other dividend bloggers that I found especially interesting.

1. Dividends Matter wrote a good analysis on Canadian National Railway Company, who has seen great dividend increases in the past and real solid performance. This analysis has made me look closer at the company. Further news by Grow Your Funds shows Warren Buffet buying even more shares in railroad companies.

2. Not to toot my own horn (which my wife tells me I do often), No Credit Needed has posted an article I did for them on the basics of dividend investing. Thanks to NCN for the opportunity to include a post on his blog!

3. Marketwatch has an article about dividend investing this they sum up with the following quote from Yogi Berra, “They give ya’ cash, which is just as good as money”. The article focuses the reader on looking for quality stocks that pay dividends rather than stocks that just have high dividend stocks.

4. Rob Carrick at The Globe and Mail offers a plan for stellar long-term stock gains using a plan he calls Dividend Deluxe. Just give a dividend stock 10 years of your life and in return you get a tax-efficient income with a double digit yield.

5. Financial Jungle has written a blog post about what he considers to be the Top 10 Reasons For Dividend Investing. This is similar to a post I did awhile back – it included a number of your suggestions for why dividend investing is a good thing.

6. DailyWealth has posted a cool article about Jeremy Siegel’s (a famous economist from the Wharton School of Business) complete bashing of some Wall Street executives who claimed the best way to beat the market is though high-flying stocks. Long and short – high fliers do not win.

Have fun with these – I learned some things along the way and I hope you do too!
