What the Dividend Focused Funds Are Holding

Last post, I wrote about a number of index funds and ETFs that were mentioned over at Seeking Alpha that track the Mergent’s Dividend Achiever index. I thought it might be interesting to see what some of these funds were reporting as their largest holdings.

Most index funds and ETFs list the top 10 holdings in their portfolios. To save some space, I thought I would list the top 3 from each of the funds listed in that article. Here they are:

Vanguard Dividend Appreciation Index Fund

1. Chevron Corp.
2. ExxonMobil Corp.
3. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.

Vanguard Dividend Appreciation ETF
1. Chevron Corp.
2. ExxonMobil Corp.
3. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.

The BlackRock Dividend Achievers Trust
1. AT&T, Inc.
2. Bank of America Corp.
3. Chevron Corp.

The BlackRock Strategic Dividend Achievers Trust
1. VF Corp.
2. People’s Bank
3. Sherwin-Williams Co.

BlackRock Enhanced Dividend Achievers Trust
1. Citigroup, Inc.
2. Washington Mutual, Inc.
3. AT&T Inc.

PowerShares Dividend Achievers Portfolio
1. Exxon Mobil Corp.
2. General Electric Co.
3. Citigroup Inc.

PowerShares High Growth Rate Dividend Achievers Portfolio
1. McDonald’s Corp.
2. United Technologies Corp.
3. Medtronic Inc.

PowerShares High Yield Equity Dividend Achievers Portfolio
1. Progress Energy Inc.
2. Consolidated Edison Inc.
3. Emerson Electric Co.

PowerShares International Dividend Achievers Portfolio

1. Nam Tai Electronics Inc.
2. ABN AMRO Holding N.V. (ADS)
3. Endesa S.A. (ADS)

The Claymore CDN Dividend & Income Achievers ETF
1. Chemtrade Logistics Income Fund Units
2. Fording Canadian Coal Trust
3. Bonterra Energy Income Trust Units

I found this exercise interesting as it allowed me to see some of the other securities that these funds consider as good dividend stocks, especially the international stuff!
